Embajadores neighborhood was chosen by the TIME OUT magazine as the number 1 place to visit this 2018. It received the first position for the coolest district out of 50 areas around the world that you should check. Although it is highlighted as the most hispter part of the city center, what this magazine doesn’t mention is that it’s also one of the lowest socio-econonomically regions in the municipality.
Our walking & guided tours in Madrid will help you to explore Lavapies area, and observe its diversity through street art and graffiti. Check Okudart’s participation at Muros Tabacalera festival or the artwork that Ben Eine, a British artists, developed on a language school’s faccade last 2017.
The most hipster, trendy and gentrified neighborhood around downtown also counts with a visit that will show you the local lifestyle. It’s in Maravillas district where you will be able to clearly see the difference that exists between urban art and graff. What would you say is the difference between these two terms? Do you prefer the legal or the illegal part? We do like both and our friends come from the two sides of this industry.
Are there any quirky guided tours in Madrid offered by bike?
Yes, there are! You should know that different local businesses will offer you the opportunity to rent a bike in Madrid for several hours but not a single of them will show you the city as we do master in! WHY? Their guests usually request information for classic things to do in town and therefore none of them focus their attention to the alternative tourism. Our bike tour in Madrid will explain the walls and faccades that were painted by famous international artists such as Jan & Jaus (Germany), L’Atlas (France) or the Spanish master ‘El Rey de la Ruina’, covering the stories that are not usually explained by others.
Participating in a bicycle experience will also allow you to discover the local communities from a different point of view. Have you ever heard of Solar Antonio Grilo or Esta es una Plaza? Both of them are urban gardens in Madrid that belong to the city council, run through local neighbors who collaborate in its maintenance on a volunteering way.
The guided tours in Madrid offered by Cooltourspain are the best way to explore the city as a local sees it. A person who works and collaborates with our project will show you what are the problems existing in the city and most importantly, what are the locals doing to solve these situation. Of course that all of it will be done through the eyes of street art and graffiti.
How could you upgrade the experience of these guided tours in Madrid?
Excellent question! This is something that our guests ask us a lot and we’ll now try to answer as best as we can.
After participating at any of the experiences that we have mentioned earlier, you could upgrade the service by adding a stencil graffiti workshop with a local urban artist.
The experience was created to help our guests put into practice everything that they’ve learnt during the guided tours in Madrid. If it’s a hen/stag party what you are celebrating, the group will work on a topic related to the broom/bride (usually their face). In case the service is offered to a school/university, we recommend to work with the motto or the school’s slogan. It’s not necessary to have one; we could use a quote that uses “Madrid experience” or a similar idea. Lastly, if the activity is designed for a group of friends, you can all work in a huge throw-up with any given name.
Why should you choose our guided tours in Madrid and not others?
The most important reason for choosing us instead of the competence (non existing) is because we are specialists in the field. Our passion for graffit and street art made us run these guided tours in Madrid about 3 years ago. It’s our goal to make you enjoy and a very important idea that you should know is that we developed these services with passion and love. We are delighted to meet people from all over the world on a daily basis .
Our professional backgrounds allow us to talk about graffiti. Some of us painted during the early 90’s and some others photographed street art when neither this term nor smart-phones existed. There exists a variety of professional backgrounds that we hold: English teachers, artists, graphic designers… Not only we mastered in the artistic field but in the academic and dicactic areas.
We hope to show you the streets of Madrid soon!
