Street art & tapas tour Madrid

Why should you join our authentic tapas tour in Madrid?

Despite the fact that we don't have a university degree on cooking, we could either eat at street food stalls, or at 5* Michelin restaurants. In that sense, the Spanish culture makes us, local residents, frequently visit bars with friends and relatives. It's in our veins. That's how we became experts on the field. Learning by doing. Consequently, during our street art & tapas tour in Madrid you should expect the group to walk along Lavapiés or Malasaña districts, discovering the local graffiti community, while stopping at 3 bars where to try only recommended dishes.

What's the most typical Spanish dish?
Typical Spanish food and more

Tortilla de patata, Gildas, Vermouth and other local & national products will be on the menu. How no-frills are you? The less picky you are, the more you'll discover our gastronomy. Ready for our tapas tour in Madrid?

dietary restrictions on the menu
It fits all audiences

Vegetarian, alcohol or gluten free, halal, kosher... Does any of these cultural values apply to you? If that's your case, we'll make sure that the food and drinks included during the food tour accommodates to your requirements.

Along the way, you'll have time to photograph and listen to the hidden stories of the local urban art community: artists, their messages, and the most relevant events such as CALLE Lavapies or PINTA Malasaña

Food markets & suggestions

Once the tapas tour in Madrid finishes, our duty as tourism leaders in Spain will not have concluded. We'll gladly recommend you which local food markets that you should visit. Please ask us about alternative spots, not the classic ones.

What's the itinerary for the street art & tapas tour in Madrid?

12.00 - Meeting point
You’ll meet the guide at the designed RDV. If you choose the Lavapies area, then we’ll meet you by the Eloy Gonzalo statue at Plaza Cascorro. On the other hand, if you prefer walking around Malasaña, we’ll meet you by the entrance of Cines Renoir (C. de Martin de los Heros, 12)
Introduction to the alternative scene in town
To start with, you’ll hear information about the area you’re about to walk. It’ll help you understand the social context, and the sustainable project that we’ve been developing in those areas for the past 8 years. More than tourists, we pretend you to become travellers, who worry about the local communities.
12.30 Mercado la Cebada vs. Mercado los Mostenses
Our first stop will allow you to discover the basic principles of our gastronomy, which is the products’ quality. Whether you prefer fish, meat, or vegetables, the Mediterranean cuisine is cooked with the best ingredients.
Information about the street art festivals in town
Thanks to a specialized guide, guests will hear insider stories about the different events which take place in Madrid city along the year. We’ll explain you about the techniques and styles, but most importantly about the messages and stories that you won’t be able to read on the walls. That’s our duty.
2nd Stop at the so-called, 'no frills' bars
Don’t expect neither tablecloths, nor expensive restaurants. We’ll take you to the places that we frequently visit during our free time. Be prepared for a real Madrid experience.
Discovering Madrid in a different way
It’s true that the city center offers history and arquitecture. However, you could have chosen the political history tour. One of our professional tour guides will take you to the areas that you’ll probably not visit on your own.
3.00PM - Last food stop
We usually leave the hidden gem of our tapas tour in Madrid for the conclusion. If you liked how the gastronomical guided visit started, and the way it continued, then wait until the end. We hope that you enjoyed the service!

Reviews of our tapas tour in Madrid

This tour was gorgeous and tasty at the same time! So informative and nice chat with our guide. It was Yago - he was charming, kind, a great teacher and full of insight. Lovely time learning about the history of the area (& how it is changing), the role of graffiti / street art in that. Tapas were great too. We would have never stopped at those bars. The opportunity to visit a real food market where locals buy their groceries, was a plus. We (41 & 13 year olds) loved it! Even as a private tour, we found the price affordable compared to other service providers.

Our tour with Iago was a very nice last-minute addition to our itinerary. What we liked most about Iago was how much he really enjoyed giving the tour - the man enjoys his job, and clearly is immersed in the artist culture in Madrid, and its gastronomy. He went above and beyond after the tour to help guide us to a cell phone store after our data plans had run out during the tour. We truly appreciated that extra little bit of service he absolutely didn't need to give us. Muchos gracias.

This was such a yummy way to try the local gastronomy. The guide, Iago, spoke Spanish and English and gave me and my husband the tour we expected. Time to speak about street art, local history and wine/food details. So in addition to the great street art and the food, I learned a lot of new art vocabulary too! We specially enjoyed Mercado los Mostenses. A completely different idea than Mercado San Miguel, which in our opinion is made for tourists.
