Students also explore the social and political dimensions of urban art : why certain images appear on certain walls, who puts them there, and what they’re trying to say. Above all, they leave with a sharper, more critical eye for the world around them.

After the tour, we extend the learning of our educational trips to Spain into making. We offer two workshop options for school groups. The first is a graffiti workshop on A3 paper, where students design and execute their own piece guided by our artists.

The Gymkana Photo Rallye is one of our most popular activities for school groups who hire our educational trips to Spain. It’s also the one that surprises teachers the most. The concept is simple: we turn an entire city neighborhood into a game. Students navigate independently, make decisions as a team, and use their phones as creative tools.
How does the gymkana work in practice?
The setup is straightforward. Groups split into small teams of four to six students. Each team receives a challenge list adapted to the city and the learning objectives. For example, on one of our educational trips to Spain they might need to find a specific mural, identify a technique, or photograph a particular detail. Others involve local history, street art terminology, or questions about the city’s cultural identity.
Meanwhile, a Cooltourspain facilitator manages the logistics, timing, and final scoring. The activity runs between 1h30′ and 2 hours, depending on the format. Teachers tell us it’s particularly effective for developing collaborative skills, spatial awareness, and cultural curiosity. It also gives students a genuine sense of ownership over their experience.
