Mulafest: the street art alternative to Madrid’s World Pride

What’s going at Mulafest?

Madrid will celebrate the sixth edition of Mulafest from next 30th June to July 2nd, being held at the same time of Madrid’s World Pride. Different activities and workshops will take place around the tattoo industry, the music business and the street art/ graffiti culture. In fact, any material or object is susceptible to turn into an artistic creation such as the more than 30 bikes customized at the special bike cult.

More than 100 tattoo artists will perform live at Mulafest. Are you interested in getting a tattoo by any of the national and international ink-lovers that will participate at this years edition? Were you any of the lucky ones who received a voucher to receive a FREE tattoo? If not, you can also learn about the techniques of Maori style tattoos at any of the workshops that Pau Beyondskin will lead.

Music at Gely Island.

The underground music will also have the opportunity to speak up at Mulafest. There is an “island” at one of the venues installed at IFEMA called La Isla Gely. Subverse collective will bring some of the artists on their rooster to this place: Helios Amor, Amber Window, Skygaze & Mans O. Beats, New Jazz, Funky and electronic are some examples of the music played next weekend.

Special Bike Cult: art and motors.

This is the second year in a row that organizers of this festival think about the custom industry. You will observe more than 30 motorbikes personalized for this occasion attending to their design, engineering and concept. Newly introduced this year, there will be a Bike Show which will award the creativity of those artists participating in the contest. Mulafest‘s Garaje will count with several sculptures where Ángel Cañas will create art with tires from cars, motorbikes and bicycles.

Sexuality, erotism and diversity at Mulafest.

Pavilion #2 will host a gay-friendly event in which art, theatre, documentaries and performances about the queer movement will get visitors’ attention. 129 artists and more than 200 interventions about the LGTBQ concepts who are making an impact in the world: Tom from Finland, David Trullo or Álvaro Villarrubia.
